Virgin Voyages has launched a summer season pass allowing passengers to work remotely at sea with the help of Starlink PRO wifi.

Entrepreneur Richard Branson and Virgin Voyages has introduced a “Scarlet Summer Season Pass” enabling passengers to take a month-long workation on four back-to-back voyages aboard the Scarlet Lady cruise ship as she sails the Mediterranean Sea.

Priced from US$9,990 for two people, the pass works out 30 per cent cheaper compared to travellers booking four independent cruises.

Between June and September, remote workers are invited to embark on a four-week journey, exploring coastal destinations along the way such as Cannes, Civitavecchia (north-west of Rome), Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, and Ajaccio (Corsica).

Richard Branson, Virgin Group founder, says: “I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to do my work from anywhere. When I started Virgin, I was actually working out of a houseboat. I’ve never thought of work and play as two different things, it’s all just living.

“We want to give sailors that same opportunity, so we came up with this idea to have them travel the world while working aboard our beautiful ships. Though this sounds like a lot more fun than my houseboat!”

Inspired by Branson’s passion for doing what you love while also having a bit of fun and adventure, the “Scarlet Summer Season Pass” is offering people an opportunity to work, travel and eat their way through Europe while enjoying the “fastest wifi at sea”.

The ship is newly equipped with integrated SES Cruise mPOWERED + Starlink PRO, offering unmatched connectivity of up to 1.5 Gbps per ship.

Wifi is free for all passengers, as are gratuities, group fitness classes like zen-inducing yoga and high-energy HIIT or spin classes, soft drinks, coffee and tea, and delicious, Michelin-inspired food from more than 20 eateries.

The package includes accommodations in a Central Sea Terrace in a prime location on the ship. The modern cabins feature fun mood lighting, high-tech tablets to control the blinds, AC and television, rainfall showers, and Virgin Voyages’ signature red hammock on the outdoor balcony.

Also included is:

  • Wash and fold laundry service
  • Early access to book on-board dining and Shore Things
  • Access to a RockStar support team, while on Scarlet Lady
  • Entry to Richard’s Rooftop, featuring daily Moët happy hours
  • A daily coffee credit to use at the Grounds Club with specialty brews and teas
  • Welcome bubbles to kick off passengers’ month-long sailing trip

Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages, says: “No longer does working from home mean being tied to a desk or home office and eating leftovers for lunch. With our latest wifi upgrades, Virgin Voyages can now offer our Sailors the chance to see the world while working from a daybed at The Dock and sampling Mediterranean mezzes, then hopping off the ship in between calls to make the most of our incredible ports of call.”

Along with visiting nine destinations across Spain, Italy and France, passengers who book the new four-week season pass will gain access to a dedicated concierge to help plan their month-long adventure. Whether it’s securing a reservation to the only Korean BBQ at sea or booking a day trip to explore the picturesque UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cinque Terre, sailors will have “Red Hot” support throughout their entire journey.
